June 4-5 witnessed in Macao the 6th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) co-sponsored by China International Contractors Association (CHINCA) and Economic Services of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR). Mr. Liang Witte (Representative of Chief Executive of Macau & Financial Secretary of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region) said in his speech that the investment and construction of international infrastructure represents a crucial part in regional economic integration, which is one of the most significant trends of the world economy. As infrastructure features prominently in such global concerns as the "One Belt One Road" (OBOR) Initiative and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the 6th IIICF put its focus on new opportunities and approaches for international infrastructure cooperation in the context of regional economic integration, thereby having a great practical significance.

With a rising attendance and an increasing percentage of managers among senior government officials, the IIICF has emerged as one of the most influential exhibitions in Macao, according to Mr. Liang. Meanwhile, the IIICF has upheld the role of Macao as a platform for enhancing economic and trade relations between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (PSC), thus greatly facilitating infrastructure cooperation between PSC and Chinese enterprises including those in Macao. During the 6th IIICF, the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) also held the Ministerial Meeting on Infrastructure between China and the Portuguese-Speaking Countries, which promoted infrastructure cooperation between China and PCS.
